ISTANBUL (AA) – Yente Inc. inaugurated its sound barrier project at Lake Aktaş, designed to ensure the comfort of migratory birds.

Yente Inc. built sound barriers at Lake Aktaş to protect migratory birds.

According to the company, the project, inaugurated at Lake Aktaş by the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdülkadir Uraloğlu, aims to protect migratory birds’ routes and preserve the natural environment.

Lake Aktaş, located between Turkey and Georgia, is home to 42 species of migratory birds, including endemic species. However, traffic on the highway connecting the Çıldır-Aktaş Border Gate has led to increasing noise pollution.

To prevent the birds from being disturbed by the noise of trucks on the highway, the project was implemented rapidly. Sound barriers with a height of 3 meters were installed along the 2,600-meter-long road by the lakeshore.

Manufactured with high-quality raw materials and in compliance with European standards, the sound barriers feature high levels of noise absorption, as well as impact and fire resistance.

'A Model Project for Turkey'

Abdurrahman Yavuz, CEO of Yente Inc., emphasized in the statement that the highway sound barrier was constructed by placing panels between the noise source and the area affected by the noise to provide effective sound insulation.

Noting that part of the sound hitting the barrier from the noise source is absorbed, resulting in a reduction in noise levels, Yavuz stated, "The sound barriers will provide crucial protection for endemic species, contributing to the preservation of nature. This initiative has become a model project for Turkey."

Yavuz also mentioned that the sound barriers were manufactured in their factories to high-quality standards, and that the wind barrier work they carried out on the Çanakkale Bridge served as a precedent for this project.

Highlighting the importance of the project, Yavuz added, "The high noise generated by heavy vehicles had started to threaten the presence of birds. Endemic species are of great importance both for our country and globally. Experts believe that these efforts will increase the number of migratory birds and, over time, enhance the lake’s attractiveness for additional new species."
